Peggy’s Porch Party featuring Bakbonz

We are super excited to announce Austin’s own funk/R&B band, Bakbonz, will be performing at Peggy’s Porch Party on Friday, April 23, 2021. It will be a funky night! Arrival time is 6:00 p.m and music will begin around 6:30 p.m. What to Bring: MASK, chair or blanket, snacks, beverage AND your dancing shoes. We will be socially distanced and mask wearing is mandatory. All attendees will need a ticket for this event and tickets are limited so we can safely distance. Weather permitting. Austin music veterans Kelly Doze and Les Fisher bring you their newest Funk/R&B project, Bakbonz. The party band plays soulful, upbeat originals and forgotten retro classics that bring down the house.

Kelly Dose

Kelly Doze is an established singer-songwriter in Austin, TX who has become known for her powerhouse vocals with unbelievable range. Her ambition and passion for music drives her to share her gift through teaching others to sing and play as well. 

As a songwriter Kelly has proven herself as one of the best and most diverse lyricist with a distinctive ability to transcend the song to the story she so deeply and passionately performs. Kelly began planting her musical roots after she teamed up with Austin icon, Malford Milligan, to produce her first self-titled album where she quickly became known as a Blues/R&B/Soul/Pop artist. Her second album, Define Me, co-produced by drummer, John Moore, is a compilation of her earlier work and showcases her versatile vocal style.

Kelly’s vocal prowess has opened up opportunities in the Austin music scene for her to work on multiple projects with artists such as Ray Prim, Zeale, Ter’rell Shahid, James Kinney, D.O.S., and Suele.

Most recently Kelly has partnered up with renowned drummer and bass player, Les Fisher whose funk style blends effortlessly with Kelly’s R&B bravura. Their first album, Worth the Wait, is to be released in early 2018 and was co- produced by Les, Kelly and Omar Vallejo of 512 Studios. Be on the lookout for Kelly’s hot new album as it is definitely worth the wait!

Les Fisher

The rock steady bass of Les Fisher is second nature to a man who is a second-generation star of the skins. He grew up in Grand Rapids, MI listening to his drummer dad. Les’s crisp vocals and songwriting talent got a jump-start from his mother, an accomplished jazz singer. If you close your eyes, it’s hard to believe that the soulful and smooth voice that you are hearing is coming from the same man that you see laying down the groove. Les is known for the energy and confidence he exudes and his laid back attitude has a way of putting other musicians at ease.

Most recently Les has performed with Micki Free (formerly with Shalamar), Don Was and Was Not Was, Mindi Abair and the Boneshakers, Jason Mraz, Brothers Johnson and George Lopez. Also, Les’s notorious backbeat in Austin, TX has given him the opportunity to play with musicians such as Gary Clark Jr., Tom Cochran, Bob Schneider, Vallejo, MC Overlord and Gospel singers Mary Mary. Les has been sought after for national tours by Sophie B. Hawkins, El Debarge, legendary saxophonist Ronnie Laws and George Clinton Parliament Funkadelik. Les’s previous band, The Funk Mob, also backed up the legendary Patty LaBelle, Az Yet, and The Temptation’s lead singer, Larry Braggs.
